BSL Level 1
BSL Level 1 gives learners a simple, friendly introduction to British Sign Language. Instead of jumping into complicated ideas, it stays focused on real-life situations — things like fingerspelling, sharing basic personal details, talking about family, colours, the weather, transport, directions, hobbies and a few everyday topics.
Most people taking this level slowly get used to recognising signs and putting together short, practical sentences. By the end, students usually feel comfortable having brief conversations in BSL, the kind you’d use when meeting someone or asking a quick question.
BSL Level 2
Level 2 builds naturally on Level 1, but it goes into more detail. The course covers a wider mix of topics: jobs, different types of buildings, rooms around the home, daily routines, emotional expressions, story-based signing, countries and flags, and multi-channel signing.
The lessons switch between examples with subtitles and without, so learners get used to understanding signs in different situations. By the time they finish Level 2, most students can hold longer conversations and explain things with clearer structure and a lot more confidence.
Course Overview
This is a CPD and QLS accredited British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 & 2 course. It’s great if you’re starting from scratch or already know a little BSL. Level 1 gets you familiar with the basics — fingerspelling, introducing yourself, talking about family, colours, numbers, weather, directions, transport, hobbies, and simple everyday stuff. You’ll pick up the signs you actually use in daily life, not just theory.
Level 2 goes a bit deeper. You’ll learn more words, longer sentences, and signs for things like jobs, rooms in the house, buildings, emotions, stories, lists, and countries. Some lessons have subtitles, some don’t, which helps you get used to following signs in real situations.
By the end, you’ll feel confident using BSL day-to-day and have a proper QLS and CPD accredited certificate to show for it. The course is practical, step-by-step, and made to help you communicate naturally with the Deaf community.
