British Sign Language Level 1

Overview

British sign language is used by more than 150,000 people in the British Isles, including thousands of users who aren’t deaf and learn the skills to aid those who need support communicating.

This course consists of a variety of modules all geared towards helping you learn how to communicate using British Sign Language. It begins with the basics of signing, including numbers, the alphabet, names and places. This is followed by lessons on family, describing people and animals and ethnic groups, religion and clothes. Next, you’re taught about practical school activities, vocabulary, subjects and people who work in schools. This course will also teach you to sign work, home and leisure-related activities, along with other aspects of everyday life, such as time, opinions, asking questions, illness and health.

The British Sign Language Level 1 course is designed and delivered by expert instructors, who provide a series of video lessons, practical exercises, online study materials and an automated multiple-choice assessment.
